Annual leave frozen? WTF ohhh

WED - KUALA LUMPUR: With influenza A (H1N1) cases on the rise, more local transmissions being reported and schools being closed, health authorities have warned that its resources will be stretched unless the public heed preventive and quarantine orders.

Health Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said the authorities not only had to contain the spread of H1N1, but other communicable diseases as well such as dengue.

"We are battling two diseases, dengue and H1N1, at the same time. We have frozen annual leave and recalled staff from leave to tackle this."

Liow said the ministry had deployed personnel from other states to the Klang Valley to help local authorities.

"Klang Valley is the most populated area, as well as the main entry point to the country. If any outbreak happens here, it can spread easily.

"We are already working very hard to contain this." -- Bernama

THAT IS NOT THE END

No leave for 100,000 medical officers and staff

PUTRAJAYA, Thurs:

The Health Ministry has frozen the leave of 100,000 medical officers and staff with immediate effect in view of the Influenza A (H1N1) outbreak said Health Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai.

The directive involves all medical officers in hospitals throughout the country, medical staff and laboratory personnel.

"The move is to ensure all the workforce can be utilised to combat the Influenza A (H1N1) outbreak effectively," said here today.

Liow also hoped employers would allow their staff who returned from overseas, especially countries like Australia, Philippines and United States, to go on unrecorded leave so that they can be "self quarantined".

"The proposal will be discussed in cabinet as it is important for employers to give unrecorded leave to ensure the safety of the public and the country," he said.

Liow said since the outbreak of the disease was becoming serious, those quarantined must follow the procedures and directives, strictly.

Those who do not adhere to the directives set for the quarantine, can be charged under the Disease Control Act 1998 which carries a RM10,000 fine or two years'' jail or both, he said.

He also urged ''contact cases'' to come forward and seek treatment voluntarily, instead of waiting and advised the public to discard any information circulated via SMS with regard to H1N1 because only the Health Ministry issues official statements on the disease.

"We (Health Ministry) will not hide any statistics or information and will continue to send out statements. So I advise the public to refrain themselves from listening to rumours.

"If there was a case detected at 8pm, the ministry will immediately release a statement," he said.

People who receive SMS messages with regard to H1N1, should forward such messages to the ministry so that those responsible can be identified, he said.

Liow said he had also asked the Education Ministry to notify all schools in the Klang valley to avoid using air conditioning in their schools and instead open their doors or windows to allow fresh air. -- BERNAMA

A (H1N1): Second confirmed case in Malaysia

PUTRAJAYA: A second Malaysian has been confirmed with the Influenza A (H1N1) virus at the Penang Hospital, said Health Ministry deputy director-general Datuk Dr Ramlee Rahmat.

The patient, a woman, was admitted to the Penang Hospital on Friday and the results were confirmed this morning, he told reporters at the ministry here.

Dr Ramlee said she was a friend of the first patient who was confirmed with the virus at the Sungai Buloh Hospital on Friday, adding that she was also on the same flight as him from the United States.

Two other friends of theirs who were on the flight have also been quarantined at home, he said, adding that the woman’s family are also under home quarantine.

Dr Ramlee said both patients are in stable condition while the other two friends have not shown any symptoms of H1N1 infection.

Explaining the development of the first patient, he said, the fever had dropped and his five family members who were quarantined also do not show symptoms.

Even the staff of a private clinic the first patient went to were placed under home quarantine and have shown no symptoms of the virus infection, he added.

On the passengers of Flight MH 091 from Newark, New Jersey at arrived at the KL International Airport on May 13, Dr Ramlee said 35 of 192 passengers had contacted the ministry and that the list of passengers has been sent to all state health departments to help contact them.

He also said that of the 192 passengers, 119 comprising of 81 Malaysians and 38 foreigners, were still in Malaysia and that 73 have left the country since.

The ministry has informed the World Health Organisation about the 73 people who had left so that the countries of destination are notified, added Dr Ramlee.

Still in Process -_-"

So, 13 days has passed since i had my interview at SPA. I called and managed to get to Pn/Cik Zamzarina during my first try at 10.20am this morning. I was so surprised that my call got through (i tried calling many times yesterday afternoon but failed, as usual). And so she checked, then her response was nothing special than what i expected 'ohh, its still in process, we are upgrading our system, you will get your offer letter in a short time.' WALAOYEAH. Now i am talking about my OFFER LETTER you know, not posting letter. CELAKA betul! FINE.

Anyway, one good news to share was that the petrol price is lower by 10 sen, effective from today!

PETALING JAYA: Petrol and diesel prices at the pump are down 10 sen today, with RON97 petrol at RM1.90 a litre and RON92 petrol and diesel at RM1.80.

A few months ago, the petrol price was as high as RM 2.70/litre.

Hot news in Malaysia - Anwar Ibrahim Debating against Ahmad Shabery Cheek

Try to call back and ask your parents what were they doing at 9pm last night?
99% of the chances of answer will be - staying infron of the tv, watching the hot debate.

TODAY DAMN HAPPENING IN MALAYSIA LORH, HOT NEWS. (Amat 'happening', hangat berita in malaysia)

There is this interesting fuel prices debate between Information Minister Datuk Ahmad Shabery Cheek and Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The one-hour debate, entitle Hari ini membentuk kerajaan, esok turun harga minyak (“Today we form the Government, tomorrow the fuel prices will go down)

I find it really interesting to watch the debate. It is up to us, the rakyat, who decides which leader to support.

Part 1

Anwar started off by promising that he will help the public by reducing the oil prices by 50 cents by tomorrow. I think that is what the majority hoping for - to reduce petrol prices. Isnt that great? But to say and to do is totally 2 different thingss. He suggested to take 2 billions from Petronas, then another 3 billions from elsewherer to cover the reduction in petrol prices...

On the other hand, Shabery mentioned that the inflation faced today is not dependend alone on fuel prices, and it happens elsewhere around the world. He then started to crap about the history of big petrol company and so on. Stop that, Ahmad.

Part 2

Part 3

Part 4

You can easily find the other related parts from youtube.

The conclusion is that Anwar will get part of the support from the rakyat, like us. However, the government wouldnt let him off so easily. He is charged right now, where he will be arrested if he doesnt show himself at the Kuala Lumpur headquarter tomorrow to have his statement recorded on the sodomy allegation against him.

Anwar will be the next prime minister of malaysia?

Nine years ago, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was the undisputed Prime Minister-in-waiting too, before he was sacked by his former boss Tun (then Datuk Seri) Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who accused him of sexual misconduct and abuse of power.

Last Saturday, a new party volunteer Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan, 23, filed a police report claiming Anwar had sexually violated him on several occasions.

Today, he stood up in the public to seek for revenge.

He claimed that he was arrested and beaten up by IGP Tan Sri Rahim Noor before being charged and jailed.

July 3 - KUALA LUMPUR: PKR’s plan to make Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim Prime Minister by Sept 16 is still on track, said the party's vice-president Azmin Ali.

Watch the 10 mins video at how Anwar giving speech to the rakyat, scolding this bodoh and that bodoh, professional my foot, kena pukul sampai mati and blah blah blah...

He claimed that "memaksa saksi, menipu fakta untuk buat pertuduhan ke atas saya... saya ada bukti..."

The grand final for MDG is just 2 days away from now. It will be held in ONE utama on tuesday and the official results shall be announced at 6.30pm, Malaysia time (which equals to 11.30am glasgow time). The super MDG fans of mine, kenny choo will sure attend this big event wan lorh. And since my soh poh and housemates might be going there as well, so theoretically i shall receive the results on time. LOLZ.

So who will win OhhhhH???

IS it Margaret phua from Phua chu kang's show?

i think Cindy has 50% of chance to win this MDG thing.

Or is it the the muk duk poh, who might follow amber chia's footsteps and win the challenge?

Adeline has almost 0% to win. aiiihz.

And finally, will the winner be the skinny datin of malaysia?

VS

Hanis has the equal chance of 50% to win this MDG. Everybody seem to like her. Mayb because she has really change from picture 2 to picture 1? Voting based on picture number 2 is a big NO NO NO!

And thks to this kenny sia, who posted damn funny pics up on his blog. He is trying to act out the 3 girls as shown below :

So who will win OhhhhH???

Malaysian Dreamgirls final top 6

If you are following Malaysian Dreamgirls closely, you will find out that the coming episodes on thursday and saturday will be the most exciting ones.

From the top 12 malaysian dreamgirls - Jean pulled out, Natasha dont have the ability to be one, Alison was voted out very early in the second week, followed by Valerie and Eyna, who lost the popularity votes and finally Fiqa was shockingly voted out too.

Elimination round took place as usual last thursday but no one is going home.

So be sure to catch on this thurday's episode, because you will definitely be surprised to see another 3 gals going home this episode.

Adeline - Her first appearance during the audition was able to capture the judges's heart and many of us out there. She is 'famous' with her poor 'engrish' command and 'muk duk poh' (a quiet person) was named after her. lolz. She has some potentials to be a model, but if to choose the TOP DREAMGIRL for Malaysia....? erm.........

Cindy - 'WoooooW...' That was the first reaction from kenny sia! She was just so so for me, from the beginning until the show to date. She is very 'FAMOUS' a few weeks back due to some 'Bitching' issues regarding the gals from the dreamhouse. She is also the drama queen for the dreamhouse, and many have claimed that 'dont ever trust what she said'.

And all thks to cindy who passed this secret message form valerie to one of the blogger who visited the house sometime ago :

She was in the bottom 3 last 3 weeks ago, but her dad promised that he will help her to win. That is a very strong word from his dad. If you have read her blog before, you will find out that she comes from a very RICH family and she often request his bro to take her very seductive + sexy pics. -_-" So i will have to say - She got a great chance to win.

Next, Hanis. Suprisingly - she was one of the 2 strongest contestants so far. Looking at her FIRST pic from the top 12 table, she will be the first one that everybody to pick to ask her to 'balik rumah'. But as time goes by, many might have discovered her potentials to be the dreamgirl of malaysia. She is super skinny but she has the height. Some people even like her 'manja' voice. What do you think? No no for me.

Next up, JAY - She is the most famous from the house. Everybody likes her. No complain about her so far, nice and neat. However, she was in the bottom 3 for 2 consecutive week, her supporters will really need to give it a push to make sure that she can stay in the top 3. She has the height, she is skillful, and she has the most experiences in modelling - No surprise if she wins MDG. but you should know well which race dominates in malaysia, rite?

Nadia - I dont understand why she is still in the top 6, despite i dont like her so much!! arghhhHh, or mayb i was wrong? Kenny sia likes her alot. Many have said that she is a very powerful girl, with full confidence all the time. Lets see - she dont have a good look, she dont look unique, she claimed that she is being honest all the while and this might be the reason why people dont vote for for lately, but i think that is called 'rude'. haha no offence ya. Being straight forward can be a good thing, as well as being a disaster if your audiences are being too sensitive.

Last but not least - Ringo from the cheeserland. She is another strongest contestants that i gona talk about. Only hanis and ringo werent in the bottom 3 yet. She did so so all the while and not much gossips about her. She might be cute, but her height is definitely a problem for her to proceed any further in modelling. She has a massive fan due to her popular blog - no surprise if she wins, but come on, TOP DREAMGIRL OF MALAYSIA, HOW CAN ARH?

So stay tune people,

Who is gonna be the top 3 lerh?

A shocking news - Shilpa Lee

About 10days ago, there was this shocking confession by Sufiah Yusof a.k.a. Shilpa Lee with News of the World that the child math genius from malaysia is now working her career as a prostitute.

The news was reported on thestar newspapers as well :

"PETALING JAYA: Sufiah Yusof, the child Maths genius who won a place at Oxford University when she was just 13, has been found to be working as a prostitute, according to a report in London’s News of the World." source taken from thestar online

It was reported that she had a traumatic childhood, forcing to stay concentration under cold temparature by her dad (who is a professor).

"And she was still haunted by her hellish childhood—subjected to her father Farooq’s Accelerated Learning Technique where she studied maths day in day out in rooms kept freezing cold to improve her concentration."

She has a very good earning now, but is it the right path for her?

"In March 2008, a reporter working undercover for the News of the World found her advertising as a prostitute quoting a rate of £130 an hour." source taken from wikipedia.

Nani?

Next, from the previous round, Natasha was voted out, Alison was voted out too.

So there are top 9 left.

SPOILER AHEAD >> PLEASE WATCH EPISODE 7 & 8 BEFORE YOU READ ON

Unexpectedly, Valerie is out this time.

Again, Cindy and Eyna were in the bottom 3. However, Valerie has gone home this week.

Nothing from MDG impress me this time, but there was some bitching going on as kenny have said.

Gals can be a very interesting subject, as well as being a very dangerous subject. When come to bitching, they can be so great - talking the bad of each other at the back, and now talking bad COMES LIVE @ MDG ONLINE!

A funny quote from kenny :

"Quote of the week: That "in du poh" (Indian lady)-referring to Alison *so bad*!"

There were alot of hatred among the gals. The very first story began when Ringo made some straight forward comments on her blog - cheeserland. The problem might have settled down at this time and she seems to have some good time getting nicely with the rest, as given the fact that she is the only chinese staying with the 'big gang' right now.

There was interesting comment from shaolintiger -

"As for the politics, there are two bedroom in the house it started off with one of 7 and one of 5, the 7 is now 6 and the 5 has become 2! It was ok in the beginning until one room overheard the other room gossiping about them, since then it's been somewhat divided.

As for the gangs it was Jean, Cindy, Valerie, Adeline and Natasha...now 3 of them are gone it's only left Cindy and Adeline, so they feel a bit left out and Adeline keeps out of it pretty much.

The first target was Ringo for what she wrote on her blog (that all seems to be settled now), the second target was Valerie for various reasons (she's out now) and the current target is Cindy.

Most of it is petty stuff, money, tomatoes, jeans etc..pretty interesting to hear it from their mouths though and also the difference between the stories when you ask two different people about the same 'incident'. "

Another blogger, Wen Qi commented that Cindy actually helped valerie to B*tch about the other gals from the contest. I wonder what they others will feel when the *secret letter* is reveal later on?

"Oh oh!! I also forgotten to add that uhmm.. when we left.. Su Ann was asked by Cindy to pass something to Stewie. It was a letter for all the girls from Valerie after she got eliminated. Ooooh oooooh wtf. I myself do not know what was Cindy's intention of giving us the letter. Weirddddd...."

WALANYEAH!

There will only be ONE winner in the end of the MDG contest. Wouldnt you want to win? It is human's nature to be so selfish at times, to sacrifice friendships, or perhaps to fake that friendship out. Of cause, there are happy moments to be together, but before a decision made by the public to eliminate one contestant each week, you have to perform your best to stand out among the rest! That is the golden rule of competition.

I conducted a very small size (N=35) poll on my blog, lasted for 10 days, and the results came out to side 2 gals out of the top 9's left from the previous week. I doubted my results since it was only a very small size sruvey.

Fiqa and Ringo both shared the top place with 8 votes each out of the total 35 votes.

So what do you think?

Who deserve to win based on my mini poll?

VS

Its left with the Top 8 gals now, one to be the Dreamgirl of Malaysia soon. What are you gonna do with your Rm 1??

To cast a vote or to buy secucuk
of fishball from pasar malam?

Blogger updates

Finally submitted my 2 pharmcare essays this morning. It took me alot of time to finish them. The contented feeling is just GREAT. same like the time when i completed my cpp essay.

Many of you should be aware that PSD is due on 31 of march. But some have claimed that it is due today. -_-" It was totally rubish-waste-of-time to update the psd thingy. But we have no choice but to do it, to fake it, as it is worth 5 credits.

Take a peep at your module learning objectives and keep repeating similar plans/outcomes for different subjects.

it took me a full one hour to update ----> DENG!@_@

The weather in glasgow is getting very weird. Yes, very weird. Besides 4 season in one day, strong gale, hailing, WE have snowing during SPRING here yesterday :P

Photo take from uncle lim

We thought that it snowed for the last time on the 14th but obviously we were wrong. The temperature was as low as -6 degrees in the midnight. Eh people, something like KIRUNA during december according to what my friends said!

A small reminder for all, Daylight Saving Time (DST) will start this Sunday, 30th march 2008. We have earned an extra hour during october. And now it is the paying back time. SOBS! This sunday, 1.00am will need to be adjusted to 2.00am GMT. SOBS. Check out local glasgow time here.

And it is back to 7hrs difference between Malaysia and Uk.

Take a look at the currecy exchange rates. GBP and US dollars have dropped drastically recently. It is mistaken that the exchange rate will rise right after malaysia general election, but it is not!

On the other hand, The new Information Minister of Malaysia, Datuk Ahmad Shabery Cheek said that he will hear the views and will not ignore bloggers. He realised that blogs are actually alternative powerful media for bloggers like us to voice out views.

I actually missed the news until i read it from kenny's blog.

The Star, Saturday March 22, 2008

Shabery to hear out bloggers

KUALA LUMPUR: The Government will not control bloggers but will consider their views as well. That is the assurance given by newly-appointed Information Minister Datuk Ahmad Shabery Cheek who is planning a meeting with the blogging community “in the next few weeks to hear them out”.

Random post

Malaysian Dreamgirl

It is getting more competitive now where each week, the gal with the lowest vote will be kicked out of the contest. Jean withdrew from the contest. The first week is over, who will be out from the 11 dreamgirls left??

The futsal session with 7 other guys was so fun! Although the goal seems a wee bit smaller as compared to the one we play back in Malaysia, but the chances of scoring goal is still very high. After subscibing membership to the gym, we make full use of it by going swimming, gym, and book court for games quite regularly. And yes, sem8 is over (after the final exams) @_@ soon, so right now we are super free! There will be more games next week onwards, so join us for games the next time if you like.

IMU-Strathclyde Pharmacy Students Last group pic

We had a final group pic with labcoat on. That was our last lecture on 14th of March! Gonna step into proffesional field as a pharmacsit in another 4months time? nah... for me, i will have a longer break :P

SPM results 2008

Results for Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination 2007 was announced today!!

There is a 5.2% increase in the number of students obtaining straight As compared to the previous year.

Do you remember the record for highest number of A1s scored?

Is it 15A1s, 16A1s or 17As? Go search wikipedia.

Is it 17A1s by Nur Amalina Che Bakri back in year 2004? Yes that was the record. She is currently being sposored by Bank Negara Malaysia to study medicine in the United Kingdom. See? This is how famous you can be if you become the top student of Malaysia.

But today, her record has been broken by Azali Azlan from SMKA Yan who successfully obtained 21As - Twenty 1As and one 2A.

OIiiiIiiiIiMeEeeeHhhhhH!!!!??

Is it really possible to cover 21 subjects in SPM? I doubt so.

The educational director commented that he cannot control the number of subjects that one person would like to take. "We encourage students to take between eight to 10 subjects but because it is an open certificate, we cannot stop students from taking more subjects if they feel they can cope..." source taken from thestar online

Congratulations to those who did well in SPM!!!! :)

- I miss my SPM results -

The impact of Election 2008, Malaysia

Barisan National (BN) suffered a big impact after losing its 2/3 majority in Parliament. This is the first time since 1969, by losing four states to the opposition, added up to the total of five now (Selangor, Penang, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu).

"Voters punished the coalition for rising inflation and its mishandling of racial tensions, leading to a backlash from minority ethnic Chinese and Indians as well as Malays who form its powerbase." from malaysiakini news

Majority of malaysian were just in time to speak up during the 12th general election for their rights.

On the other hand, Pak Lah will not resign, he will continue to rule the BN and he will seek the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to witness him to swear as Prime Minister.

“I give you my word, ladies and gentlemen, that I will continue my efforts to strengthen Umno and Barisan Nasional, to launch the manifesto that we have promised so that our country will be safe, peaceful and properous (selamat, aman dan makmur),” source from thestar online

Our ex- 4th Prime Minister Dr. Mahathir commented that it was his mistake to have chosen Pak Lah to continue his job. "I think he should accept responsibility for this. He should accept 100 percent responsibility" & "I am sorry, but I apparently made the wrong choice." source from malaysiakini

For me, putting a blame on the current problem now is definitely a no No. Dr Mahathis is not wrong, so did Pak Lah too. The most important thing is to solve the problem now. Stepping down might be a choice, but is it a right choice?

So the biggest challenge for Pak Lah now is to form a new government under the BN, a temporary alliance of 14 race-based parties including ethnic Chinese and Indian parties. Good luck.

Another general impact after election would be our currency exchange rates. Several months before election, malaysia currency has raised and the exchange rates between great britain GBP and Ringgit Malaysia RM is around 1 GBP to Rm 6.32. Today is just the 2nd day after 12th general election. Here is a good site to check currency exchange rates - Universal Currency Converter. Take a look at today's exchange rates :
