REFERRING to the letter “Perfect nurses but doctors found wanting” (The Star, Aug 30), I do have the same concern over some doctors in our public health system.

Our public hospitals and healthcare centres are the major healthcare service providers for the majority of Malaysians seeking affordable care, and we cannot compromise on the quality of care rendered.

Recently, some of my friends who consulted a few public hospitals complained to me that they had been seen by arrogant doctors who were very bad in their communication and interpersonal skills.

Furthermore, in certain hospitals, the privacy of patients was not taken into consideration during consultation in outpatient clinics.

I personally know that in one public hospital in the northern region, two or three patients are seen in a consultation room at the same time during a clinic day. This can be a really embarrassing and daunting session for some.

Understanding patient psychosocial behaviour is important, and subjects related to this area are always taught in medical and health-related courses. Yet some practitioners still do not incorporate what they have learned in their daily practice.

Healthcare providers also need to understand that the expectation of patients to public health service has changed over the years. The new generation of patients are better educated and they also expect healthcare professionals to be more sensitive to their healthcare needs.

If we look closely at public health service provision in developed countries, good patient healthcare professional communication is always part of good care provision practice. And patients are also engaged in any decision-making process.

In Malaysia, we seldom see this. Most of the healthcare providers believe they know everything and sometimes fail to understand the actual underlying problems with their patients because they were not attentive to what the patient had to say.

This in turn will have a negative impact on patient treatment outcomes. Therefore, it is imperative that the Health Ministry ensures that the healthcare professionals hired must be more attentive to their patients’ needs and engage them in any decision-making process in order to achieve good health outcomes.

Otherwise some slogans that I saw in hospitals, such as “All for quality and quality for all”, are just for the sake of exhibition.

My title "Be positive, stay away from negative influences" can simply be divided into two parts, i.e. "be positive" and "stay away from negative influences".

When we read any daily newspapers, 90% of them are sad news eg. Secretary admits to being a sex addict, Housewife drugged and raped during job hunt, Missing man found dead and so on. I mean, it is interesting to know about the stories, but after all it do no good but to affect our emotion. We become so afraid to try and to take risks. Or, when we talk to our colleagues, we will often hear complaints like "oh, today was a freaking busy day. i worked in the morning, afternoon and after office hours!", "i hate my boss, she is so fussy and always scold me without a valid reason!", "hey, did you know that ms.pretty has got a new boy friend?" and so on. Would these statements do any good to our life?

The statement makes a lot of sense to me. It is our decision to choose how we want to live and the future of our life. Hong Zao Mian Xian (Ang Zao Mee Suah) 红槽鸡面线

I only get to eat the above mentioned dish twice every year. There is a tradition going on in my family that every first day of Chinese New Year (Cho 1), we will be eating Hong Zao Mian Xian (Ang Zao Mee Suah) 红槽鸡面线 for the breakfast. Besides that, Hong Zao Mian Xian (Ang Zao Mee Suah) 红槽鸡面线 will also be served to the birthday boy/girl during his/her big day.

By the way, Hong Zao Mian Xian (Ang Zao Mee Suah) 红槽鸡面线 is a tradition dish for Hock Chew Lang.

Last Sunday, I decided to cook this tradition dish and share with my landlord family and friends.

All you need are (serve 10 people) :

1) a whole chicken

2) garlics and gingers

3) the special hong zao

4) mushrooms and boiled eggs are optional

Get started by preparing the ingredients as follow :

1) Chop the chicken into smaller pieces

2) Cut the garlics, gingers and mushrooms into smaller pieces

3) Fry the garlics, gingers

4) Add in 5 table spoon of hong zao, fry them

5) Add some sesame oil. Add in chicken pieces and fry them until medium cook

6) Transfer everything into a big bowl, add water and boil them for about 20 minits.

7) Add in some soy sauce, salt and sugar and some more hong zao if the soup is not thick enough. Finally, add one tea spoon of hong zao vinegar/yellow vinegar into the soup. The soup is ready by now.

8) Cook the mee shua by soaking them into hot boiling water for about 5 minits.

Dont be frightened by the color of the dish!

I invited 2 special guests and in return, they offered huiyin and i to follow them to singapore.

We had our dinner in the very famous japanese buffet restaurant that night.

That night, i was questioned by a friend :"How much was your bonus this year?" So i answered :"Rm500, and i might not get all of them because i started working in Feb this year."

Working for government is bad. -_-"

Yin Mei treat us for the dinner that night. She claimed that she received a great year end bonus from her boss recently. Thank you adam and yin mei!!!!

I tried to change the date to 11th june where i will be going back home but its full. If not, need to skip her first appoinment and follow up on 21st July.

RECENTLY i wrote an approximate 800 words email to another him. It has to be something very serious that i spent my time writing this long email to seek his opinion. 6 days has passed, i found out from my dad that he actually went back home last weekend so i text him to find out what actually happened.

Me : Hei bro. Did you receive my email on 23rd October?

Him2 : Yes, why?

Me : But u neva reply? i tot u didnt get it. So what do u think? 2day they all decided 2let ah gong hav beta diet already. cos nw getting much worst. lost of appetite n walk wit support bcos no energy.

Him2 : I went bk last wkend. i heard frm them that the chinese doc restricts all of the diet. let c wat happen after 1 month.

Me: Im not going 2wait anymore. i told them 2resume the last time diet already. nvm. i play game sin. ciao.

From now onwards, I gave up on this another him. Everything written above are true. I never add a single word from our conversation!

Oh by the way, Him1 is a different person from Him2. You will find out how they are related at the end of the post.

My ah gong is an ESRF (end stage renal failure patient). We were almost ready to bring him for dialysis last month. However, my family decided to try out TCM (traditional chinese medicine) before starting dialysis. So we went to a small town in perak (approximately 2 hours drive from KL) to see this chinese physician, came home with 30 packets of chinese herbal medicine after spending approximately RM 500.
2 weeks after the treatment, my ah gong lost 3 kg, lost of appetite very seriously (because of the completely ridiculous strict diet from the chinese physician) and feeling weak.

My email is as below :

I requested my dad to bring ah gong for renal profile test yesterday and the result came back today. Here is the comparison between 1st October and 21st October. Ah gong started on the 'magical' TCM on 6st October.

Urea : 19.8 vs 12.9 ( 1.7 - 8.3 )
Creatinine : 474 vs 454 (<150)>

GFR : 11 vs 11

Ca2+ : 2.03 vs 2.19 (2.12-2.52)

Phosphate : 1.42 vs 1.61 (0.64-1.48)

Uric Acid : 0.44 vs 0.34 (0.20-0.42)

Sodium : 132 vs 122 (137-150)

Potassium : 5 vs 5.4 (3.5-5.3)

Chloride : 103 vs 94 (95-100)

Weight :52kg vs49kg

Age = 81 years old

Haemoglobin???? Albumin??? (wasn't done this time, will request one during end of the month)

my Calculated Creatinine Clearance 7.96 ml/min VS 7.83ml/min

There is a major improvement in urea (what does it means?). The improvement in creatinine is almost negligible because looking at ah gong's trend, creatinine can go down or up even WITHOUT SUPER STRICT DIET CONTROL PLUS 'magical' TCM. BUT THERE IS A VERY MINOR DECLINE IN CREATININE CLEARANCE DESPITE THE SUPER STRICT DIET CONTROL.

The super strict diet - Is it necessary to obey completely???

I just spoken to my dad and he cant agreed with me regarding on letting loose ah gong's diet. Uncle billy and my dad stood firm to keep the strict diet for at least a month. I dont agree with that. Okay, i have spoken to the dietian (cik siti) in my hospital. I have told siti about ah gong's condition, progression except for the chinese medicine part. She concluded that it is neccessary to take some essential proteins such as meat/eggs (which provides high protein), mayb once a week, while bean provides low protein. I have observed the trend of renal failure patients in my hospital and found out that almost all of them are on calcium carbonate (phosphate binder), ferrous, iron, vit B complex. (will discuss about supplements with Dr Jeya, if the result by end of this month turn out to be good).

Next, ah gong called me last sunday to inform me about his bp trend. Then i called him today too. To all of our surprise, i think he is almost a doctor/pharmacist now. He stopped taking Amlodipine 5mg ON for the past 3 days already (without informing any of us, i guess), although i have reminded him to inform me regarding any changes in medication/sick/side effects for many times. His bp dropped tremendously throughout the 6 days. Something like this : sunday (116/74), monday ( 108/69), tuesday (118/70), wednesday (126/68), thursday (122/68). Normally his bp was at least 160/70 in the morning. all the values shown are taken morning (afternoon and night values are good : between 130-150/60-75). He said he felt giddy (almost fainted) upon waking up on Monday and Tuesday. He stopped taking Amlo 5mg Tuesday night. The bp was monitored for the following 3 days and the values are good. Why??? Could it be due to the chinese medicine? Why is it only start taking effect after 2 weeks?? I trust him in modifying his hypertension medication because he could still communicate rationally.

Next, big issue is up. Ah gong has lost 3kg in 2 weeks time. He complaint to me that he is feeling loss of appetite because of his SUPER strict diet. He is taking oats with milk every morning (no more bread or kon lou mee), only fried mee hun once in the past 2 weeks, then rice with 2 types of vege for lunch (almost tasteless, because no aginomoto, no soysauce, only little bit of salt), then the same or slightly different dishes for dinner. He wants more varieties! He finally complaint and i told him it was great to hear his complains.

i know the cooking part is mainly putting on fault on my mum or ah mu (they were ordered and i havent spoken to my mum regarding this yet), but the main thing that we must all agree first is on the diet modification. All of us should come to one same conclusion. we will have to let the family members accept what we want ah gong to take before ah gong himself, and ah mah(the biggest person in the family). I will email the BAN's and the CAN's from the chinese prescriber once i contacted my bro (it was written on my book at PJ).

and ah gong's renal function BEFORE and AFTER taking chinese medicine

any reason to explain why urea is dropping?? the rise in potasium could be due to the types of vege and the use of garlic in cooking for the past 2 weeks. my dad actually figured out that (so cool). SODIUM. it is dropping too!

There must be more issues/questions to raise after reading so much.

We need to think of a best diet modification plan for the cooker/carers/patient asap! Thank you very much!! Sorry to write u guys such a long email!

My friends arh, why last time working on call for ward is considered one of the best on call, now become the worst already lur. Sobs! Sat A boss told me the rules will be effective from 1st Nov, my only ward on call is on this Saturday (31st October), mou diu only. WooooohoooooOOoo! :)

It was such a big shock when we heard about the posting for frp-to be in HSA last Thursday. Out of the 20 of them, only 3 stayed in Johor, and bear in mind, they were the 3 married Puan wang, Colyn and Zafeera. 3 unlucky one were thrown to Kelantan, 4 to Pahang, 2 got Sarawak and the other 8 to Sabah. We are almost ready to lose all 20 senior prps.

OMFG! EVERYBODY was talking about it so seriouly that day. I went to the office to enquire regarding transportation of cars to East Malaysia and the staffs in the office were all shocked!

5 of them (zhi yang, choon sen, yan jing, kim yen and shirlene) will be flying to Sabah tomorrow morning.

Tan zhi yang, the person who had dinner with me ALMOST every single night during the past 8 months will be going to Sabah tomorrow.

He said thank you to me in msn, for 3 times. Of course, i feel exactly the same. I want to thank him for accompanying me for dinner, gym, lending forensic books for me, sharing thoughts with me and many more!!! Thank you once again. Gambateh in Sabah! To the rest of you going to Sabah, Sarawak, Kelantan, Pahang and other places, I wish all of you success in your career and stay happy always!

Mr Kv and i had planned a dagei trip since Monday. We asked each other out for dagei since at least 5 months ago and we always never make it. (you see how hard we actually get a chance?) However, our plan was stopped initially because Angela (Hui Hoon, who is the KPF of hospital kota tinggi) came back to HSI. Mr Kv and i decided to join the rest for lunch with Angela instead of dagei, although we both rated eating with Angela (3.5/5.0) and Dagei (5.5/5.0).

After lunch, the gals decided to go to Jusco Tebrau. That was the time when Kv and i headed to cc for our dota game!!!

We went back to work at 2.50pm (just 5mins late only leh), ahem (actually cdr nothing to do during friday afternoon one, especially now is Raya period). I joined the cpd session and grabbed a box of chicky meal (kfc set meal).

After we filled our stomach with kfc, we took our bag and headed back to the same cyber cafe at 4.40pm!

Well, for the rest of you, I believe the first 2 things that come to your mind about Kuching must be Kucing (Cat) and Food!

The very first night when we (Jian, Qris and I) arrived in Kuching, they (Hsheong, Uncle lim, and Xiao wei) brought us to the Kuching Open Air Market for dinner. One thing very special in Kuching is about their drinks.

This drink is called White Lady (combination of milk + longan + Pineapple ),priced at RM2.50, famous in Kuching. I have no idea why is it called white lady. White Lady = Ang Moh lady?

Next, they have Tomato mee, keow teow or mee pok.

The next morning, we had the famous Kon Lo Mee in Kuching.

There are two types, white sauce and red sauce. Both very oily. Definitely prefer the red sauce, YES THE RED SAUCE.

After breakfast, we had a chance to visit the largest shopping mall in Kuching, The Spring Mall.

Then, we headed to another hawker centre for some local food.

After lunch, we went for a walk along the Kuching lake. We then took a boat to the other side of the lake in search of kek lapis. It only cost RM 0.60 per person per journey.

The next morning, we took a visit to the Cultural Village (aka Kampung Budaya Kuching). The ticket is very expensive.

Luckily, thanks to IMU, who gave us a student card with no expiry date on it, we were able to fake ourselves as a student, and got a ticket at the price of RM 15 each. It is even cheaper than purchasing a child ticket!! Child =/ student?

The fun time came in when Qris and Jian got themselves dressed up in traditional Iban clothes.

And finally, we went to the beach to catch the sunset.

Having to wait for the monthly income in order to spend happily is a painful thing. Thank you KhaiYong for lighting up the sparks in me (i havent updated my blog for a very long time, sorry people!) by sharing with me his positive views towards online marketing. I came back from Hong Kong on Tuesday and i am curently working in out patient department (8am - 6pm). I used to have some negative feedbacks on certain frps but now the feeling is gone. They are much nicer than i thought. Lunch call today (12.15pm - 2.45pm) was quite relaxing. I took a 10mins quick break to eat my lunch (Jian brought lunch)and skipped my lunch break so that i could go back at 5pm. All out of sudden, an irrelevant news hit me at 4.50pm. (10 minutes before i get to go home, happily).

HSAJB update :

Passive call from 5pm to 8am for all prps starts today

Since i am doing TDM oncall tomorrow, so i will be doing the passive call (the 2nd white mouse) for that day. Which means,

1) i will work from 10am - 1pm on Saturday
2) passive call from 8am - 5pm on the same day
3) continue to work in patient on call from 8am - 5pm on Sunday
4) work in OPD 8am to 5pm on Monday
5) continue in A&E pharmacy from 5pm - 10pm and
6) finally 8am - 1pm in OPD on Tuesday
7) drive back to KL after 1pm

* Bonus * i will be attending a 2 hours Boxing class at Excite gym tomorrow after TDM on call.

All the possible bad words are coming out of my mouth at this moment......

WED - KUALA LUMPUR: With influenza A (H1N1) cases on the rise, more local transmissions being reported and schools being closed, health authorities have warned that its resources will be stretched unless the public heed preventive and quarantine orders.

Health Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said the authorities not only had to contain the spread of H1N1, but other communicable diseases as well such as dengue.

"We are battling two diseases, dengue and H1N1, at the same time. We have frozen annual leave and recalled staff from leave to tackle this."

Liow said the ministry had deployed personnel from other states to the Klang Valley to help local authorities.

"Klang Valley is the most populated area, as well as the main entry point to the country. If any outbreak happens here, it can spread easily.

No leave for 100,000 medical officers and staff

PUTRAJAYA, Thurs:

The Health Ministry has frozen the leave of 100,000 medical officers and staff with immediate effect in view of the Influenza A (H1N1) outbreak said Health Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai.
The directive involves all medical officers in hospitals throughout the country, medical staff and laboratory personnel.

"The move is to ensure all the workforce can be utilised to combat the Influenza A (H1N1) outbreak effectively," said here today.

Liow also hoped employers would allow their staff who returned from overseas, especially countries like Australia, Philippines and United States, to go on unrecorded leave so that they can be "self quarantined".

"The proposal will be discussed in cabinet as it is important for employers to give unrecorded leave to ensure the safety of the public and the country," he said.

Liow said since the outbreak of the disease was becoming serious, those quarantined must follow the procedures and directives, strictly.

Those who do not adhere to the directives set for the quarantine, can be charged under the Disease Control Act 1998 which carries a RM10,000 fine or two years'' jail or both, he said.

He also urged ''contact cases'' to come forward and seek treatment voluntarily, instead of waiting and advised the public to discard any information circulated via SMS with regard to H1N1 because only the Health Ministry issues official statements on the disease.

"We (Health Ministry) will not hide any statistics or information and will continue to send out statements. So I advise the public to refrain themselves from listening to rumours.

"If there was a case detected at 8pm, the ministry will immediately release a statement," he said.

People who receive SMS messages with regard to H1N1, should forward such messages to the ministry so that those responsible can be identified, he said.

Liow said he had also asked the Education Ministry to notify all schools in the Klang valley to avoid using air conditioning in their schools and instead open their doors or windows to allow fresh air. -- BERNAMA

Saturday, 27 June - Solo-ed TPN, double my experiences. There were 9 cases for TPN on friday (1 adult, 3 paed bags and 4 paed syringes) and i did my on call today and the next one will be next Monday.

I was quite excited. BULL SHIT. I managed to survive through 7 cases during a Sunday on call, with 'that person' missing for at least one hour. Thinking of 9 cases can make me faint. The truth is, i quite hate to handle all 9 cases alone.

Fortunately, 4 cases OFF today because they are able to tolerate oral feeding. Huuuray :) Means left with 2 paed bags and 3 paed syringes.

After finish clerking, i told 'that person' today off 4 cases, 'that person' replied "case sikit, saya tak akan masuk awal, i stay di luar untuk kerja lain'. Kerja lain included reading giant leaflet, newspaper, gossips etc. Why this is so similar with what Qristine told me?

The biggest surprise came after i finished my lunch. When i came back to TPN room at 12pm, 'that person' said "Ding, pn roshidah called me, we are all invited to New York Hotel to makan buffet, you want to go?" Kan she already know i went out for lunch already????

After all, i managed to finish everything by 2.50pm. And you know what, i saw 'that person' coming back to TPN at 2.55pm. 'That person' is getting paid for reading Giant leaflet, newspaper, gossip, missing for at least 2 hours for buffet lunch at new york hotel...

However, in order to start earning, you need to do alot of reading, plus put in alot of efforts + time.

I will be following khai's blog closely because i am very interested to know his proggression in the business.

It is really going to be a big challenge for Khai because i can see that there is a sudden rise of smart bloggers since the past one year. Those who know how to earn via blogging will manage a few blogs in order to maximise their income. Khai's aim is a bigger one - to work full time home-based business.

2) You are not trying to discuss and solve a problem related to both of us. You are trying to ignore a problem. Again, you are a great frp/good grandson? I doubt so.

I remember i said 'I HATE TPN' in my blog a couples of weeks ago.

I take back my words. I dont hate TPN. I just dont wish to get TPN on call during the weekend. I got once this month and 2 times in June. It is just not fair to work during the weekend with :
i) EXACTLY the same workloads
ii) Less people working
iii) Less working hours (8am - 3pm only)

There are times where prp get to go home before 3pm (once in a blue moon?) and most of the time, people work until 5pm - 6pm. (but isnt stated to work from 8am - 3pm?)

Nah. Forget about it.

So, lets go back to the title.

Im good at TPN. I finished TPN at 3.10pm today! 7 cases - 3 adult, one paed bag and 3 paed syringes. For the first time, i feel so comfortable working in the sterile room because i have all the space. I was able to take EVERYTHING and left them on the Lamina Flow to ease my job. Instead of compounding one by one, i did it two by two. Kak silva finished the 3 adult bags and i finished the rest. I know im not very great and i can tell you im good at TPN. lolz.

A (H1N1): Second confirmed case in Malaysia

PUTRAJAYA: A second Malaysian has been confirmed with the Influenza A (H1N1) virus at the Penang Hospital, said Health Ministry deputy director-general Datuk Dr Ramlee Rahmat.

The patient, a woman, was admitted to the Penang Hospital on Friday and the results were confirmed this morning, he told reporters at the ministry here.

Dr Ramlee said she was a friend of the first patient who was confirmed with the virus at the Sungai Buloh Hospital on Friday, adding that she was also on the same flight as him from the United States.

Two other friends of theirs who were on the flight have also been quarantined at home, he said, adding that the woman’s family are also under home quarantine.

Dr Ramlee said both patients are in stable condition while the other two friends have not shown any symptoms of H1N1 infection.

Explaining the development of the first patient, he said, the fever had dropped and his five family members who were quarantined also do not show symptoms.

Even the staff of a private clinic the first patient went to were placed under home quarantine and have shown no symptoms of the virus infection, he added.

On the passengers of Flight MH 091 from Newark, New Jersey at arrived at the KL International Airport on May 13, Dr Ramlee said 35 of 192 passengers had contacted the ministry and that the list of passengers has been sent to all state health departments to help contact them.

He also said that of the 192 passengers, 119 comprising of 81 Malaysians and 38 foreigners, were still in Malaysia and that 73 have left the country since.

The ministry has informed the World Health Organisation about the 73 people who had left so that the countries of destination are notified, added Dr Ramlee.

Health officers at the Sungai Buloh Hospital on high alert after the first A (H1N1) flu case found in a 21-year-old student who returned from the United States on Wednesday morning.

Health Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said the case made Malaysia the 36th country to be affected by the virus.

“Malaysia is now on high alert,” said Liow, who is in London now, enroute to Geneva, for a World Health Organisation meeting. He added he would return earlier than his scheduled return next Friday.

Liow said Datuk Seri Kong Cho Ha who is now the acting Health Minister would hold a press conference with the deputy health director general Datuk Dr Ramlee Rahmat at Putra Jaya at 3pm

Meanwhile, A statement by the Health Ministry's director-general, Dr. Ismail Merican, said the young man was hospitalised on Thursday for fever, sore throat and body aches.

Tests confirmed that he was infected with the A(H1N1) virus, the statement said. He is receiving anti-viral treatment and was in stable condition, it said.

Ismail said the ministry had contacted members of his family but they have not been placed under quarantine.

Ismail said his department was taking steps to protect public health and that there was no reason to panic.

Meanwhile, Bernama reported that a man from Bukit Mertajam held under observation at the isolation ward of the Penang Hospital has been declared free of Influenza A (H1N1).

"We just got a report that the blood test on the 26-year-old man was negative," State Health, Welfare, Caring Society and Environment Committee chairman Phee Boon Poh said when contacted by Bernama Friday.

A test on a sample of his blood had been sent to Kuala Lumpur.

The man was kept for observation Thursday after he was found to have fever and symptoms similar to those of Influenza A (H1N1) on his return from the United States.

Two weeks ago, a New Zealand tourist was admitted to the isolation ward of the hospital for suspected Influenza A (H1N1) but a blood test also showed up negative.

I did my TDM presentation with lee yin today. As what i expected, Kak Maz tegur me until i feel so cham. But i still like kak maz alot. She is a very good teacher. 'Tak kan you nak kak ajar you satu satu kan?', 'So, siapa yang salah sekarang?'.

Enforcement is still the best area so far. You go there eat breakfast 8am - 9am everyday and go back at 5pm zhun zhun without fail. You go out jalan jalan do inspection with one senior, so shuang! You can snake the whole day and the best pat is that you still paid the same. :)

I dislike TPN. Wearing full sterile suit and working 4 hours in the sterile room (no driking, no peeing, no air) is very tiring. =(

JB international fishing challenge

I happened to stop by taman merdeka for an hour to witness JB international fishing challenge before i work this morning.

RM 80 for 4 hours of fishing under such a hot weather is freaking expensive man!!

But there were still alot of participants. I estimated around 1000 participants today. Majority of them were Malays.

The main thing that draws the participant to this competition besides interest was the prize money being offered. First prize was RM10,000.

Participants turned out way earlier before the competition to choose their best spot. When i arrived at 8.30am, the place was crowded already.

The competition started at 9am sharp. Everybody were excited.

Within 2 mins after the competition started, one participant not far away from me caught a fish. FIRST BLOOD!!!! (if you play DOTA larh) Then a few secs later, another one got the fish across the lake. I was excited too, so i followed him to the weighing area.

And within distance, i saw many people caught fish.

This lucky guy fish a tortoise!!!

Then, this guy appeared - Abang Fauzan (he was the one who ajak me to this competition). He turned out 15mins after the competition started. There was at least 20 fishes caught already at that time.

A few mins later, this abang from stor HSA caught his first fish.

Before i went to HSA to work, i passed by the weighing area once again.

There were more participants who lined up to get their fishes weighed this time.

And these amount of fish that were caught.

That was merely 30 mins after the competition started. Wow!!!

I called abang Fauzan at 2.30pm and he told me he caught one weighing 5 KG+. That was his only fish for the day. Pretty impressed huh?

I lost terribly in DOTA today.

LEVEL 1 roshan kena gg-ied. Sentinel line up - Omni, ursa, syallabear, drow, jugger. Ursa took aegis of immortal. Everyone from sentinel got 200 Gold and became level 2.

Omni, drow and ursa gang btm lane after obtaining aegis. Troll was killed and first blood drew. He then quited.

The game goes on with 5v4 situation. Throughout the game, we were killed and ganged continuosly.

In less than 50 mins and 3 trials, they broke our fountain. DENG. The syallabear even bought branches and organized them into words as below. DENG!!!

Fazwan from billing deparment called me this morning, informing me about the waiving of my 2nd month fees. However, i still have to pay the first month bill, which totalled up to about RM 450. Fair enough!

During my lunch, Mr Ong (technician from JB) rang me up to book an appointment with me. He will come to my place to inspect regarding the slow internet connection. Fair enough.

After my lunch, Sam (Supervisor of customer service) called me. He actually receieved the forward email (in all capitalised words) from me yesterday.

Before i left the port, Kingston (Manager of customer service team) called me. He asked me for feedback regarding the customer service. Next, HSA pharmacy is very active in organising activities. There was this Pertandingan Futsal Tertutup Jabatan Farmasi HSAJB last Saturday.

The Reluctant FC represented OPD to compete, consist of Abang Fauzan, Abang Rizman, Abang Hamizan, Encik Issa, Syafeie, Zainarol and myself. Sad to say that we kena TAPAOED gao gao. (1st round 0-3 lost to hospital Kulai, 2nd round 0-2 lost to HSI, 3rd round 0-3 lost to Store HSA).

I felt much relieved the next day when i heard that Kulai was the champion and Store HSA was the 1st runner up for the Futsal competition.

The story between P1 and Me

I have subscribed to p1 wimax on 14 feb 2009. However, i was given the wrong package at that time (i.e. RM 50 with 256 kbps instead of the RM 99 package with 1.2 mbps). I made several calls and managed to change the plan on 7th March. I received the first statement (RM 432.50) on 28th Feb. I was very unhappy and so i made complaint and requested for the waiving of my first month's service charge.

I have been experiencing slow internet connection for the past 1 month, erm wait, 2 months. In other words, i have not experienced fast internet connection, as what i expected to get when i FIRST tested p1wimax in pelangi mall on 14th feb.

So i made MANY MANY calls to p1 wimax customer service once again. I have even spoken to the supervisor because all the careline staffs were just giving me BLANK PROMISES.

I am extremely disappointed. Bhagavan promised to send a technical staff from jb to have a look with my problem but until now i havent received any call from the technical people yet.

Without having my problems solved, recently i received these 2 emails, chasing after me for the bills. PLUS, i just recieve a SMS regarding the overdue of my monthly fees.

I went back to KL 3 weeks ago to celebrate my bro's 21st birthday and to accompany my mum and ah mah for an eye appointment at ISEC.

* Ja Yee is an excellent driver. She can drive and speed in the highway so well, flash back those rude drives whom had flashed and potong-ed her.

Summary :
1) Last friday was my last day in Outpatient department (for 4/8 weeks). It was my first station and i will only be going back to OPD in August.

2) On my last day in OPD, Y suddenly asked me 'DO YOU HATE ME? HOW CAN YOU NOT HATE ME, SINCE I SCOLDED U BEFORE? (i mentioned about hating X and Y here). To Y, i think you should ask yourself why people like me hate you initially? I would definitely prefer an extra friend than an extra enemy.

3) ON my last day in OPD, i made a terrible mistake - i dispensed WRONG MEDICATION to patient A. I dispensed 2x2mg of warfarin to patient A instead of 1x3mg warfarin, for a duration of 1month. Uncle K managed to get SOME of the patient's details for me - Phone number, full ic and address. Besides uncle, many people helped me too. WE HAVE TO SETTLE THIS SECRETLY (under table). All the basic things failed - 1) call the patient (I failed to call the patients after zillion times calling. Unreachable, wrong number) 2) Get more details (patient was here for INR check up only, no further details can be traced) 3) Go to the patient's house (patient's address is in Negeri Sembilan!) Uncle K suggested me to send a mail to negeri sembilan for this patient. The patient's mum received my mail yesterday morning and she called me back. Everthing was settled by then. Thank you Uncle K, R, Z and everyone who listened to me. I will definitely learn my mistake.

4) So im now in TDM - Tien, How do you fine TDM? I will answer 'wow, Not bad.' Kak Maz gave us alot of pressure there. She scolded me for many times but i still like her, respect her alot.

5) Forensic exam is coming. EXAM IS COMING. I have applied for off day for next friday for this exam. EXAM is coming. T.T

5) Im feeling very cham right now. I worked from 8am to 10.20pm today (Friday). I will be working 8-5pm tomorrow (Saturday) and Sunday. Today was the first day i worked in A and E (5-10pm). Many problems came and i hope i have solved them. IF ONLY I DONT HAVE TO WORK TOMORROW...

Prps Orientation at Kulai Hospital

Yesterday, all provisional registered pharmacists (prp) from johor state were required to attend an orientation at Kulai Hospital. It was a 2days event.

It was mainly an introduction session - we were exposed to each department that we will be going through and requirements that we have to fullfill at each department.

We were told to wear the right attire to work - For guys (long sleeve, necktie, belt, black shoes and long formal pants, NAME TAG) and for girls (LONG formal top, LONG skirt, COVERED shoes, NAME TAG). But let me show you the best attire here :

Yesterday, I could not stay awake for the entire session and napped for a few times throughout the almost 9hours talk. And today, i fall sleep during the very first hour of the talk, plus i was sitting in the first row!!

The only positive thing from the orientation was that this orientation brought all the prps working in johor state to meet up! I was very happy to see many of my friends here today!! They are from batu pahat (pei ling and eyo), muar (khaiyong, phekjoo, angeline, chew yee, suilin and huiming) and HSI (huihoon, adam, kha hong). There are a total of 25 IMU-ians working as prp in johor state now!!!!

HSA might flood one day like what happened in hospital kuching too. I wonder whether we are allowed to dress like them or not?

Hi, I have subscribed for p1wimax on 14 Feb this year (Home plus package). However, i was given the Homelite package. I have discovered this after lodging into my online account on 15 Feb. I have been experiencing slow internet speed since the first day i used your service. The retail seller at Pelangi Mall (johor bahru), ah pang promised me to solve the issue by one week. However, he has been giving me blank promises each time. I have waited for 14 days and nothing seem to be done yet. I have called him to discuss on this issue for at least 8times.

We were given an oppurtunity to attend the talk on "Enjoying Better Sex : 10 years of Rediscvoring Passion" by Dr Rosie King at Mutiara Hotel this evening. It was a very intersting talk where we were shared with statistical studies on sex health in asean regions and the discovering of Viagra by an accident.

The first part was on the statistical studies. In Malaysia, it was found that Men ranked sex as the 8th (while women ranked sex as 14th) essential criteria in life after family, financial, religions, general health etc. It was found that viagra had significantly improved the general health and confidence of one in patient with ED (erectile dysfunction).

Viagra was officially approved by FDA at 1998. Some intersting facts :

1) Viagra is a PDE 5 inhibitor.
2) Sildenafil citrate (Viagra) was first used to treat hypertension. Then it was used in a study for angina patients. The study was abandoned because viagra is ineffective in treating angina. However, from that study, it was found that one of the adverse effects of sildenafil was erection. Thus, the discovery of Viagra in treating ED was an accident.
3) The subsequent study involved viagra in treating ED patients. It was found that a dose of 75mg or 100mg significantly improved erection in men with ED.
4) 1 billion of viagra were sold yearly with over 35 millions of viagra prescriptions. 6 tablets of viagra were consumed worldwide every 1 second.

After the talk, we were served with buffet. The food was good. :)

I was working in the outpatient department, handling dangerous drugs (DD) for the past 5 days. It was a more relaxing job compared to filling or dispensing in the outpatient department. Some example of DDs include diazepam, clonazepam, alprazolam, midazolam, lorazepam, syrup morphine, fentanyl patch, rectal diazepam and so on. After 5 days of working on DDs, i am so familiar with DDs now - I know the shapes, colours and packings well and i am able to use the tablet counter very well too. I feel very pressured working in opd today.

If someone is talking to you but you choose to ignore that someone, that is very rude.

It is very rude to not answer someone's question in full also.

Yesterday, I volunteered for a campaign work for this sunday but i rejected the job today.

This is because I have a very bad feeling that i wont feel happy if i make it to sunday's campaign. I will have to try to make friends with someone who dont treat me as a friend. So there isnt any point for me to go. Now you understand why i said SOME of the frps are nice and VERy helpful in my previous post.

I didnt have a good time working with X and Y for the past few days. Today, I asked x, 'can you fetch me this sunday?'. Then X answered 'Oh, it is not convenient.' and immediately X walked away. It is so rude to not show concern to someone who is seeking for help. I feel very disappointed and i know i will have to face many black faces throughout my opd shift in future.

That is not the end. X gave me TONS of work for this weekend too. 'You do all this, this and this for me this weekend, since you are not on-call.' (Self added dialogue : Fei poh gave me all the work, so now i will pass you all the work!keke!)

If you are a nice person. I will definitely help you. But now...

Valentine's Day 2009 - Every staff from HSA was ordered to go back to HSA to 'Gotong Royong' yesterday.

I was placed in the outpatient department. Jen Inn + ah sing + me were incharged of changing ALL THE LABELS from the counters. 3 of us were under Pn. Farah (picture below).

We were given a short break at 11am - served with nasi lemak and orange juice.

It is actually a 'mission impossible' - copy down all the drug names accordingly, check the quantity, type the details in excel and sort them in a list, check mims for 'before food/after food', type the drug names again in words and finally replace the old labels with these new labels. After 4 hours, we only finished 1/10 for the counters. But the rest who incharged for the resting room and the 'papan kenyataan' have done a good job.

AFTER GOTONG ROYONG

That was what we have done for 4 hours - we copied down approximate 2/3 of the drugs name and we only managed to make new labels for these 6 drugs shown below.

Good luck and gambateh bah to whoever who will be ordered to 'gotong royong' at outpatient department next 6 months.

It is friday and it is supposed to be my last day of working for the week. However, all the prps (provisional registered pharmacists) are ordered to go back to the hostpital tomorrow for 'gotong-royong'.

Majority (almost all) of the seniors/colleagues working in the outpatient department are very nice. They are very helpful. In the past 6 days, i really learn alot in the outpatient department. At least, i am able to dispense to patient confidently. We were required to meet the requirement of 'at least 5 cousellings per week' and i havent got one yet!

How was work? Have you got used to working as a pharmactt?

My answer will be 'very interesting'!

CNY house visiting tour

We managed to visit 5 houses and stay together as one team for about 13hours last saturday.

The 10 of us :

First destination was Hee Sheong's house in USJ. Met hs' younger sister for the first time. After that, we headed to Subang - vyeaw's new house. His parents treat us with finger-licking KFC there and this save us some money for lunch. (gam sia gam sia!!) Met his bro and dai sou for the first time.

Next, we headed to kajang. We spent quite a few hours gambling in luyi's house.

After dinner, we went to visit Kim Hoe's house in taman jasmine, Kajang.

The final destination was to Long Long River - Qristine's place.

Su Miin's 24th & 25th birthday

A year ago, we celebrated Su Miin's 24th birthday in glasgow.

It was the second day of CNY and so most of us wore a red T.

This year, we took the CNY bai nian (house visiting) oppurtunity to celebrate Su Miin's 25th early birthday in One U last friday. His birthday is on 8th Feb. This year 'bai nian' trip was very successful although there were some confusions earlier on.

The first stop was to visit my house in Taman Sea. Then we headed to One U. As it was a friday night, Chilis was crowded and we sat to wait for an hour before having a place at the restaurant!

Pre CNY mood

Its only Nian 27th (3 days before CNY), but it seems that everybody is in the mood to celebrate the big day already. For me, i have no idea how will this year CNY be. Im not prepared. I havent got myself a single new clothe and maybe this saturday is another chance for me to try to shop. I dont have a single confirm plan for this upcoming CNY. No family trips. Maybe/most probably there will be a gathering with IMU friends next saturday? Maybe to catch All's Well End's Well 2009 in the cinema with all my family members? Maybe to make a trip to pulau ketam for the famous seafood?

Farewell to Kevin

About a month ago, Kevin invited zhuon and i to attend his farewell party at restaurant Izzi at uptown area.

The one smartly dressed in whilte long sleeve is Kevin. That night, i met 3 of my primary school friends (Yi Han, Ken Ling and Vincent) which happened to know Kevin too. This definitely prove the saying 'The world is so small'.

He is now in Iowa state of USA, complaining of the freezing cold temperature over there. Thank you for the meal and we wish you all the best there in Iowa.

PJTC Taekwondo Party Night 2009

Petaling Jaya Taekwondo Club (PJTC) is one of the top established taekwondo learning center in Petaling Jaya area. It was a huge success for the PJTC Takaewondo Party Night held at Ding Martial Art Gymnasium (DMAG) last saturday. 39 taekwondo students turned up with full taekwondo uniform.

The party was welcomed with Charlotte posing with peace.

It was meant to be a party night, so students were asked to go wild and be sporting during the whole party. The aim was to live with a night with MINIMAL DISCIPLINE during taekwondo class.

This party was better and bigger than the one we had in year 2005. One good thing to notice is that the number of students have been increasing from year to year.

During the party night, students were also divided into 4 groups to play games. All the 4 games planned turned out very well.

We (the seniors) were trying our best to brief the students

And the students were listen carefully.
(The only time for students to stay disciplined during the night)

The first game was started with relay run with weight of 2.5Kg.

Zhen Ning was getting ready to dash off.

We can see that Lim was dashing with his greatest speed.

The second game gave more excitements to the students. It was a duck walk relay race. Students were required to walk like a duck and quack like a duck.

Next, the third game was solely depends on LUCK. It was a catwalk relay race. Students were asked to do catwalk and to play 'scissors, paper, stone' with one senior at another end.

At times, they were asked to compete in cheering in order to get them some bonus points. It made me feel like going back to Orientation time in IMU. My batchmates, you must agree with me that our orientation was so damn fun, right?

Parents were having a good time chatting and laughing while watching their kids playing games.

The last game required alot of skills and teamwork. Each team was ordered to pass as many rubber bands as possible in order to tie the hair for the queen. It was a really interesting game. It was copied from Super Trio Supreme show.

At the end of the day, 'Bak Zhan Gai' group won and each received a small gift.

I have no idea what was i doing at that time. You take the guess.

After the game, it was supper time. All the food were sponsored by Petaling Jaya Taekwondo Club (PJTC).

There were curry chicken, fried mee hun, sotong balls, nuggets, french fries, fish balls, hotdogs and salads.

#Random fact No. 1

My family support NEW BALANCE very much compared to Nike, Reebox or Addidas.

6 out of 7 of my family members are wearing NEW BALANCE sport shoes.

4 out 6 pairs of sports shoes shown above are NEW BALANCE brand.

I was wearing my old Reebox shoes during the recent running events.

And my bro was wearing his sponsored shoes - Line 7.

Then i spotted another 2 pairs of New Balance shoes owned by two cousins.

Coincidentally, i bought myself a new pair of sport shoes just before i came back from glasgow.

Random fact No. 2

My mum is a very good cook. She can cook very 'jeng' bak kut teh.

She didnt just cook for 4 persons, but she cooked for 16 persons in the house.

Besides that, the 'yau char kuey' she made was delicious too.

I wish i had learnt from her the recipe to make yau char kuey earlier on.

Random fact No. 3

To cook steamed toufu, my mum suggested to put 2 eggs plus 2 bowl of water for a perfect bowl of steamed toufu. Sam suggested to put the amount of water according to amount of eggs, i.e. if we use 2 eggs, then we use the 2 empty shells of the eggs to measure water, the result was not that good. Where as my housemates and i will go 'all random' when we were at glasgow.

To my housemates : Last time we didnt put enough water that is why the texture was so weird!

It was quite interesting to exchange gift with family members during Christmas.

X'mas gift exchange with family members have earned myself a famous amous cup with some cookies.

In Dota, many said that AR = ALL RUN rather than all random because many will choose to leave game when they have randomed some heroes that they dont want. CELAKA betul!

A short Genting Trip

School holidays just ended a few days ago. We (ah gong, ah mah, bro and i) took the booking for 888 deals and put a stay in Genting First World Hotel for a night 5 days ago.

2D1N stay + buffet breakfast for two at the price of RM38.80 Nett was definitely a good deal.

Initially i thought to park my car at the skyway station and take cable car to Genting Highland. However, it was closed and so i have to drive my 1.5CC proton wira all the way up. Well, it was not easy man.

We were greated with this big Choi Seng when we arrived.

Another useful tip for saving some money when you are at Genting would be getting yourself a holiday card. Check it out here. You can buy a RM 100 prepaid holiday card with the price of RM 85.

Dinner at 'Lao Di Fang' was a bad choice.

First, their Claypot Seafood Noodles tasted terrible, priced at RM 18.

It was very salty. We requested boiling water to be added but it was still the same. In the end, it was taken off from the total bill.

Can you believe that the picture shown below is actually called ASAM fish? RM 36 for that.

It tasted nothing like ASAM fish but more to sweet and sour fish. It was the best dish of the night though.

Next, the 'Ham Choy Kou Lou' was bad as well, priced at RM 20.

Last but not least, the varieble vege plate with brinjals, long beans, four seasons bean and some salted fish on top.

RM 20 for that was a bad choice.

So people, DONT go Lao Di Fang for dinner meal okay?

We missed to see the DREAMZ show as it is only available after 26 Jan 2009.

My bro is underage and somehow he was lucky and was allowed to go in to casino that night. Unfortunately, we have no beginner's luck and we lost RM 30 playing slot machines after 2 hours.

The buffet breakfast was good. There are much more additional food compared to last time.

What was he doing there?
