Holiday pay from BA

If you have worked with Blue Arrow before, you should have noticed a small statement saying 'your holiday year ends xx/xx/08'. Have you wondering what is that?




As for me, i started working for Blue Arrow since last year, 29 Aug 2007. My first job was at Hamilton, working for almost 11 hours, together with Uncle lim, lee kwai hoong and su miin.

My contract with BA was terminated when i stopped working after new year's eve job @ tall ship. YES I WAS FIRED in march after failing to work for BA for more than 2 months.

Then i came back to BA in mid july 2008. I got a full time job in Morgan stanley from BA. I was being taxed excessively by working more than 20 hours in a week.




Two weeks ago, i enquired about holiday pay from BA. It is something like if you are working full time with a company, you are qualified for some days of holiday pay leave. Then i requested it and finally they have paid me for the holiday pay.



It was a 24 hours bonus holiday pay that they have included in my last week's pay slip. After deducting the payable tax, i received 90 pounds bonus from BA.

Ring the bell and tell them you want to register for part time job. P/S : Bring your cv with you and tell them you have experiences with food/catering.

Advantages : Flexible. Tell them your availability and you will easily get a job from them, especially during the weekend. I have got both extremely good job (morgan stanley) and extremely tough job (hamilton) from them.

Disadvantages : Everything is in random mode (ALL RANDOM). No fixed working place. Sometimes you need to travel for 45 mins (to get to AYR) or 30 mins (to get to Hamilton). No fixed working time (as short as 4 hours up 15 hours max in a day). Some travel expenses are not claimable. (i pay 30 pounds for transport weekly)

p/s : i have worked 26 hours in a day before and that was not the most. I lost to someone else who worked 28 hours on the same day. lolz.


2) City G8

City Gate will be the second choice of flexible part time agency to register. Its part time jobs related to catering as well. They have alot of jobs in SECC/glasgow city hall (reachable by tube in 10mins time/walking distance). They also offer jobs during the weekend for Ayr/Hamilton horse races.

Advantages : very relaxing 4-5 hours job in SECC in the evening. You might be interested to catch one/two/more during your sem7.

Disadvantages : For every 4 hours that you worked, 15 mins will be deducted for no reason! they are very famous of "tipu-ing" at least 15 mins for each job that you have done for them. But dont worry, you can try to claim that if you want.

p/s : I only worked for City G8 once. I worked 4 hours but they paid me 3 hours and 45 mins. -_-"


As for permanent part time job :

You can try your luck ANYWHERE opening for vacancy, such as subway, burger king, mcD, topshop, newlook, sportsdirect, JJB, debenhams and so on. Many places are looking for people in october onwards as they need alot of part time workers for christmas sales beginning in nov/dec.

Away for 3 days

I have stopped working since last friday. I am still waiting for my pay slip to arrive, till then i can share with you guys one big important discovery - holiday pay leave. nyek nyek nyek :)


I am very fortunate to meet robert in his informal uniform and requested my p45 from him. According to rob, he will then request the tax from london revenue and the process shall takes about 6 weeks. THEY OWE ME MORE THAN 200 pounds of tax at the moment.


I MET ALLEN from eastern treats TWICE today!!! He is a really nice supervisor and i really like him alot!!! Last day with Goldfish

5 weeks - that was the amount of time that i have worked for Morgan Stanley. And yesterday was the last day. I got this super nice job from BA when i failed to get any other permanent jobs elsewhere that time.



Bye bye everyone - Cliff, Glen, Amanda, Collin, David, Derrick, Mark, Lukman. Thank you for everything. I will sure miss working there (when i am in need of $$$$ ;p). You guys are very nice, will definitely go to heaven. :)

There is a bbq party going on tonight. The good thing is i will just skip all the preparation parts since i will be working. Then i will just join in the party straight away when i reach glasgow. Another smile :)

And the final thing to do last night was to watch moonlight resonance episode 17 with lou poh zai before we k.o. on our lovely bed. G.G.

Its the end of day 12 Beijing Olympic Games, lets take a look at the medal tally table :



China is leading with 45 Golds, followed by USA with 26 Golds and Great Britain with 16 Golds. And proud to say that Malaysia is still with one silver medal, positioned 60, after Lee chong wei lost to

You know, today the sun newspaper claimed that Scotland would be sitting 16th in the medal table if they were completing themselves. All thanks to the hattrick brought by Chris Hoy - by making another history for Great Britain by winning 3 gold medals in cycling. What about Michael Phelps? To date, he would have been positioned number 9 if he would have competed beijing olympic 2008 all by his own. lolz.


Next, you must not miss out the big name of Usain Bolt. He is another Olympic Hero after Michael Phelps and Chris Hoy! He was the man who brought Jamaica first gold medal when he created a new world record in 100m male event back to 16 august. Watch the replay by bbc here. Today, Bolt made the impossible real by creating another world record with 19.30 sec in 200m male. You will definitely see him in each and every newspaper tomorrow.



HOW? 200m with 19.30 secs? WTF. 100m with 9.69 secs. 2 NEW WORLD RECORDS. How is it possible?

Next up is my favourite sports- Taekwondo. Im very surprised that Mexico managed to claim a gold in Men's Fin weight. Korean was not even in the top 16. Chinese taipei lost in the quarter. Even great britain was able to qualified and the match between Guillermo Perez (Mex) and Michael Harvey (GB) during the top 16 was horrible. They failed to impress me. I have watched alot more exciting fight. Watch how Guillermo Perez won Mexico's first gold medal of the Beijing Olympics with victory in the men's -58kg taekwondo.

Dining at Rumours in Glasgow

Rumours @ bath street has the second best chinese food in glasgow after Asian Style. We were late by 30 mins for the 3 course set lunch, and we failed to persuade the aunty to let us dine for the set lunch.


So, all 4 of them ordered tomyam with rice. There are 2 types of tomyam available - a bowl of seafood tomyam @ 3.80 pounds or a bowl of chicken tomyam @ 3.50 pounds. It is good to go with egg fried rice (2 pounds) or plain rice (1.50 pounds).





The tomyam was good - according to the 2 tomyam experts - yin + yen, and the other 2 who likes tomyam - hueywen and shianyi


Initially i want to order fish head noodles (yu tao mi fen) because many give good comment on that, but unfortunately there is none for today. Take a guess what i actually had?



Its PRAWN MEE!!!!!!!!!!! The prawn mee is super jeng. Very nice!!! Highly recommended for those who loves prawn me! Although, 6.80 pounds (rm 44.20) for a bowl of prawn mee is freaking expensive, but since i have high level of cravings over prawn mee since i left malaysia, i was willing to pay for it. p/s: : aunty said they only sell prawn mee during weekend or mon or tuesday only.

I am still with GoldFish

It has been a long time since i last updated about my job with GoldFish. I am glad to say that i am still with Goldfish (previously known as Morgan Stanley). I have been with them for 4 weeks!!!! My total payable tax has accumulated to almost 150 pounds over the 4 weeks. I have tried making calls to Hm revenue and the staff promised to send me the tax claiming forms but none arrive yet. The worry is that "Am i able to claim them back????".


Okay lets go back to Goldfish. I still have very nice scottish/english breakfast everyday.








And recently, i made myself some mocha ice in the morning too.




I was once very interested to work with subway but ended up with no empty vacancy to fit me in more ten subways around glasgow city centre. So i worked for Blue arrow once again since then.


And this is how the canteen looks like :




I was recently working as a sandwich maker for the past 2 weeks with Goldfish.


Let me introduce to you guys ----> MY DELI BAR :






People here can be very healthy at times, where approximate 50-60% of people working in Goldfish will order sandwich/baguette for lunch. That will make me goes extremely busy during the peak time (12-2pm). Frankly, I like to stay busy than have nothing to do almost all the time.


But the people here are considered very unhealthy at times also because there will always people requesting/shouting for - "can i have a bowl of chips please?".


One day, i was trying to be very healthy, but i failed. I had hot baguette with tandorri chicken and lots of salads (very healthy) + curly fries (not healthy) for my lunch. I heart curly fries.




Fish and chips is the most common food that you will see (at least twice in a week, fry with different types of flour). Another common food that you will find is pie -steak and vegetables pie.






At many times, i chose rice with curry over fish and chips.

Beef to go with black bean sauce is really a good choice. I love the combination of stir fried beef with black bean sauce + green peas + carrots + prawn crackers :




And to go with a slice of cake to make up my lunch -




These battered crispy chicken are very nice. =)




But this roast chicken breast is not so nice. =(




Fortunately, i have this slice of chocolate cake for the add on for my lunch -




On the other hand, at other times, i really got very sick with all the food, and i chose macceroni cheese, beef lasagne or kukujiao meal over the others.








There was this free food day again on wednesday. It was like the other day where we had a free bbq party for all the staffs. This time, we have macceroni cheese, chips, beef balti curry, rice, roast chicken + sausages with bacons + stuffings, some desserts and some fruit drinks.














I had a really good meal that day - fed myself with some roast chicken + sausages with bacons + stuffings + green beans + carrots + roast potatoes.



And a slice of raspberry cake.



That was not the best thing. On the same day, i received 2 free cinema tickets from my boss, entitling to watch any movie anytime in cineworld glasgow or elsewhere.

Here is a little trick for non-premium user :

Each time you finish downloading a single file, disconnect from your ADSL modem, reconnect it, then you will be able to download file again! Cooking fish for the first time

Remember the post where i ask you guys to guess what was i doing last sunday?

Uncle lim got it right - i was preparing and steaming a fish.


The answer :

This fish was bought in a shop next to the dimsum shop in Chinatown. 2.50 pounds was really a good deal!




Being one who loves catching fish/fishing so-damn-much, i must have known some knowledge regarding the proper ways of disecting a fish and then to make it a dish for dinner. Well, there are actually alot of things that you need to know about cooking fish - eg. Smell, Look, tips. Get them at how to cook fish here.

• Smell it!
  Fresh fish should smell sweet: you should feel that you're standing at the ocean's edge. Any fishy or strong flavors means the fish is past its prime; do not buy it.
  
• Look at it!
  Whole fish should look as they were just pulled from the water; bright eyes and firm flesh are signs of freshness.
  
• Freeze it!
  Fresh fish should be stored in your refrigerator for only a day or two; it's very perishable. Any longer than that, and wrap the fish well in freezer paper and freeze it.

Okay, lets go back to "How to cook the fish" -


1) Firstly, i removed the scales with a knife.



2) Then, cut it open right in the middle. This was the second picture that i showed initially.



3) This was the first picture that i showed you guys! Guess what was i doing again?





4) Now you have came to the cleaning part. Learn "how to clean a fish" or you can follow your grandmother's ways of doing it. Remove all the internal organs from the fish and dont worry when you cut open the fish, it wont go like 'bliakkk', then all the sisa-sisa drop out... No it wont!



5) I need to chop the fish into halve because it was unable to fit into the plate.



6) Next, put alot of ginger slices and add some soy sauce and a little bit of vinegar in it!



7) Besides that, you also need these things to steam itu fish!! Third picture that was previously shown.



8) Tadaeng - The final product after 10-15 mins of steaming

I only managed to watch part of it during my lunch break in morgan stanley. China uses more than 2000 people to do one performance. SImple bravo right? The performance was just awesome!!!!! A must watch!

A very first of all, big congratulations to my 2nd sis - eve and newly married husband, nicholas. They were registered on 08/08/08 and will be getting married later in november this year.

What was i doing at 8.08am?

I was sitting in the train reading free Metro newspaper. Still remember a girl named Madeleine McCann who was missing since May 2007?



She was missing just days short of her fourth birthday and her parents were the primary suspects after the incident. The case was closed a week ago by the Portugese police and the husband and wife - Kate and Gerry McCann were cleared of being the aguido (suspect) as well. So, the couples ordered their own lawyer and journalist to analyse the 30,000 pages portugese police file.



The interesting thing being revealed was that there were as many as 3 witnesses actually spotted Madeline in Amsterdam, Belgium and Brussels separately, a few days after she went missing. There were police reports lodged in the respective places, BUT, no action were taken by the Portugese police.

There was also news saying that Madeline was snactched by paedophile ring to order from belgium. Read more here.

I seriously hope that Madeline can be found back one day, so that all the secrets that lie behind it will be revealed.


Any interesting thing during 08/08/08?

Nah. Not really. As usual - work, dinner, go ALDI, online, movie, sleep. I have a colleague who has worked for a year for morgan stanley and friday was his last day working there. He seemed so happy to leave. When i asked him "do you miss anything here?" He answered to me "Nope. I am very glad to leave. Maybe just the people." That seem very logic right? told you nothing interesting. But as usual, i will feel extremely happy when it is a friday - because i dont have to work during the weekend!

It was 2 pounds when i dined in rumours in April. Then it rises price to 2.20 pounds when i dined there last tuesday.



Yes, just this freaking piece of roti canai, cost 2.20 pounds = RM 14.30


That is the case. When you crave for it, you want to eat it. So, this packet of roti canai (also known as roti paratha) was bought in seawoo - 6 keping for the price of 1.50 pounds.



And you know, they are made from malaysia -_-"



Each keping is nicely separated with plastic wrap.



And you know, im not only craving for roti canai, but i want to have a taste of roti telur. So there i go, i beaten an egg.



The cooking part is simple - just put them into a pan, fry the roti for several minutes (until golden brown both sides)



Ready to be served - Roti telur. lolz.



And this is me on a sunday morning, eating roti canai with a cup of hot milo, NOT TEH TARIK LARH OF COURSE. DENG. @_@

My friend, i know in malaysia you guys can eat really cheap + jeng roti canai, not only that, you can eat alot of different roti + maggi goreng + teh tarik. Sobs sobs.


So in order to overcome my craving, i google about it. I remembered darren google about 'pasar malam', 'prawn mee', 'mang jiang kuih' during our lab session with blair erh! We had a 2 weeks long session with mr angelic blair.


And so here is what i got :
